Zinfindel Opolo Vineyards
As I've mentioned, I still have images to edit from my Journey, and more stories to tell. This beautiful Zinfindel leaf was from my visit to my favorite vineyard which I accidentally stumbled across on my way from Death Valley to Big Sur back in November. I was driving en route to the California coast when I saw a billboard for Opolo. Driving up a winding road, turning into the vineyard, I thought I'd stumbled into heaven. The leaves were at peak color, the wine was incredible, I ordered a glass of Petit Verdot, and sat down to a veggie pizza with my favorite wine.
Walking out into the vineyard with my camera after my lovely brunch, I walked into the rows of backlit leaves, set on fire with vibrant color from the warm sun shining down on this beautiful space. I snapped a few images, then turned up a row of vines and walked right into the vineyard manager. We spoke for quite a while, then he offered me a private tour of the vineyard, along with a quick tasting of the wonderful walnut spirits that Opolo produced. To top that off, the vineyard had a lovely cottage standing empty at the top of the hill, and after hearing my story about my journey, he offered me the cottage for the night.
I cannot begin to tell you how much gratitude I have in my heart for the random acts of kindness from the strangers I've met along the way, who are now my friends.
Maybe it's not so random.
