Kanaloa, an image from Kauai taken in 2014, recently received the Speakers Choice Award in the 2015 Shooting the West Photography Competition and won top prize in the Outdoor Category of Hawai'i Magazine's 2016 Photo contest. Kanaloa can be found in my Coastal Colors Gallery. I've held a number of photography workshops for the Galena Park Visitor's Center, and was a featured speaker for the 2016 Shooting the West Photography Symposium in Winnemucca. I'm also a featured Alumni with Aperture Academy, you can read about me here:
In April of 2014, I drove from Reno, Nevada through the Valley of Fire, Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Moab, Arches and Canyonlands, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Page, South Coyote Buttes, Death Valley, Yosemite, Antelope Poppy Preserve, Mono Lake, and back to Reno. 3000 miles in 10 days. It was the best adventure I've ever experienced ! Making upturns, exploring places I'd never seen before, discovering that the world really is an amazing place, diverse, colorful, inspirational. I liked it so much that I went back again in November, this time attending a workshop focused on photographing the Anasazi Ruins in Eastern Utah. Off the Grid and into the outback. After all those hours on the road, I've decided that it's time to organize more trips like that, and bring along people with like interests. My first trip was held in September 2015, and focused on exploration, combining "extreme adventures" with hiking, yoga and photography. Emphasis on Fun ! We walked in the Virgin River, watched the stars emerge at night from the top of a mountain, wandered through slot canyons, hiked down into the Grand Canyon, made U-Turns, and had an awesome adventure!
This summer, I'll be offering one day Lake Tahoe hiking, yoga, and photography workshops. Friend me on Facebook at Dotty Molt Photography, and I'll keep you posted so you can be one of the first people to sign up!
Carpe Diem...Every Day!!!
